Welcome to Newark Bird Control: Prevention and Removal of Unwanted Birds

Our company specializes in resolving problems caused by birds in Newark, New Jersey, both residential and commerical. We handle bird species such as pigeons, starlings, grackles, sparros, and even Canada Geese and woodpeckers. We generally don't kill birds - we prevent them from causing problems. Most commonly, this means that we install barriers that prevent them access to your building or property, or anti-roosting devices that prevent them from landing, nesting, or roosting on your home, store, building, or anywhere. We use netting, needle strips, shock track, and more. We do offer trapping in some cases, and removal of birds from warehouses, grocery stores, or other commerical or industrial buildings by netting or sometimes pellet shooting. We have a wide variety of tools and methods for solving every manner of bird problem. Call us at 973-668-4893 to discuss your bird problem today.

1

Netting

Stop Birds From Accessing Your Space

We stop birds from entering almost any space by installing netting. It is strong and durable, but thin and black so that it is not visually distracting. We can prevent birds from flying or roosting under awnings, roofs, or any other architectural area.

2

Anti-Roosting

Stop Birds From Landing Or Roosting

We install needle strips or shock track on ledges, beams, the tops of signs, and anywhere birds are roosting and causing unsightly and unhealthy droppings. We can reach any area with our ladders and boom lifts.

3

Cleanup

We Clean Droppings and Nesting Material

Birds can make a mess with their droppings - on your building, roof, or the ground, or any other area. Sometimes bird guano and nesting material accumulate. We professionally clean and decontaminate the area.

What if a Pigeon Got Inside My House, Bedroom, Kitchen, Etc.

If a pigeon manages to find its way into your house or apartment, the first thing to remember is DO NOT PANIC. Pigeons are completely harmless birds, and they cannot do you or your house any damage. The worst that could happen is that they leave droppings on your furniture. If you shout or run around, you could alarm the bird, and it will start flying around in a frenzy. This will not help you remove it at all.

Remember the bird does not want to be there itself, as much you want it gone. It will not take a lot of coaxing to remove it. The key things to remember is that the pigeon itself is a living being and must be respected. Don't do anything to hurt it- don't try to grab it with your hands, throw anything at it, or swing a stick at it.

Instead, try the following methods to remove a pigeon in case it gets in your house:

  1. If the room in which the bird has been caught has a window, close off all openings of the room in which it has flown into. All doors that lead into other rooms of the house. Open the window of the room in which it is in, and leave. The bird will probably fly out itself in a couple of minutes. If however, it does not do so, you may need to try and coax it out.
  2. Take a stick, a broom or a rolled up newspaper, and gently try to guide the bird towards the window. Do this slowly and gently, to avoid alarming the bird.
  3. If the bird does not fly out by your coaxing, or if the room does not have a window, you may need to catch the bird. Buying a bird trap will be expensive and will waste a lot of your time while the bird will be panicking and making a mess inside. So instead of relying on a bird trap, you can do the same with a large towel instead! Creep up towards the Pigeon, and when you are a small distance away, throw the towel over it. The pigeon will not be able to fly at all under the towel. Lightly gather the edges of the cloth, pick it up and release it outside. It will fly off, never to be seen again!
  4. You can also use a large plastic bag to do the same thing. Have a friend hold the bag open, with the mouth facing the bird on the floor while you coax the bird into it with a broom. This will work only if the bird is on the floor, and will be easier if it is a younger bird.
